New Manchester City recruit Rolando Bianchi is hoping his move to the Premiership will enable him to realise his dreams of playing for Italy.

The 24-year-old has yet to earn even a mention in the plans of Italy coach Roberto Donadoni despite scoring 18 goals in Serie A for Reggina last season.

Established Italy internationals Luca Toni and Cristiano Lucarelli are hoping to earn more attention in foreign leagues, with Bayern Munich and Shakhtar  Donetsk respectively, and Bianchi wants his move to the City of Manchester Stadium to thrust him into the limelight in the same way.

"I really want to wear that (Italy) shirt and I will try to do well to earn (Donadoni's) faith," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I want to gain lots of satisfaction here before returning to conquer Italy."

Bianchi admits to having struggled to settle in since making his switch from Reggina although, with his English dictionary at hand, he is now making progress.

"The first thing I bought was a dictionary and then an adapter to charge my phone and use my PC," he said. "I struggled the first few days with breakfast. Instead of a croissant and cappuccino, I was faced with eggs.

"Things are better now and (coach Sven-Goran) Eriksson is imposing a dietary regime which is very Italian."

With less than a fortnight to go until the start of the season, Bianchi is now looking forward to his new future in England, and in particular facing opponents  such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

He said: "It is because of dreaming of games like those that I became a footballer. At City, they want to do big things and start making inroads on United."
