Blackburn would consider selling England midfielder David Bentley — but only for the right price, the club's chairman John Williams has confirmed.

Rovers have had two bids for the 23-year-old, from Tottenham and Aston Villa, but neither has come anywhere close to the price Blackburn believe Bentley is worth.

It is thought Blackburn would want more than €23 million for the former Arsenal player, who has already made it clear he wants to move, though ideally to a club playing in the Champions League.

If they do receive a bid at the required level, then manager Paul Ince will have the final say.

Williams said today: "We have received two bids but neither have come anywhere close to our valuation which is based in line with how we see the market.

"We don't want to lose David but if we do get a bid that meets our valuation then ultimately it comes down to a football decision by Paul.

"David is one year into a four-year contract but he told us when Mark Hughes was here that he wanted a move so this doesn't come as a shock to us."

Bentley has travelled to Germany with the rest of the Blackburn squad but may
return early after picking up a hamstring injury.
