Jason Byrne completed his transfer to Bohemians from Cardiff City tonight by putting pen-to-paper on a three-year-deal with the Dublin club.

Byrne finally passed his medical this evening after a minor hamstring problem was detected under initial examination last night.

The 29-year-old striker, capped twice for the Republic of Ireland, joins on a free transfer from Cardiff where, despite having scored on his debut, he made just two starts during a disappointing year.

Byrne rejected offers from Scottish sides Kilmarnock and Dundee to be reunited with his former Shelbourne manager Pat Fenlon who succeeded the sacked Sean Connor after Christmas.

"We are delighted to have Jason on board," Fenlon said tonight. "He scored a lot of goals while he was at Shelbourne, and I hope he can do the same for Bohs."
