Seán Connor has been sacked as Bohemians manager with immediate effect, according to the club's website.
The former Sligo Rovers manager steered the Gypsies to third in the eircom League Premier Division last season, but there are suggestions that one of the reasons for the Belfast man's sacking was because he lost the respect of the dressing room. He was in the job for just over one year.
The question of who will replace Connor is currently open for debate. It is unlikely the former Bohs and recently sacked Dunfermline manager, Stephen Kenny, will return to the Dublin club.
Kenny won the league with Bohs in 2002/3 but things went sour after that and he was sacked two seasons later. In any case, he is understood to be on the verge of signing a new three-year deal which will take him back to Derry City. Kenny had a successful stint at the Brandywell the first time around.
Damien Richardson's name could also get thrown into the hat because his time as Cork City manager appears at an end after he initiated High Court proceedings to prevent any move by the club to dismiss him. Richardson will surely see the process out at Turner's Cross before leaving.
That leaves former Shelbourne and Derry boss Pat Fenlon as the most obvious replacement for Connor. Fenlon picked up the reins at Derry after Kenny left for Dunfermline, but he left in May and was replaced by Scot John Robertson, who has since been sacked.
Fenlon is the current Ireland Under-23 manager and after several months in the job it was suggested Fenlon could juggle this role with a full time position, should a suitable domestic vacancy become available.
The Bohemians board confirmed they will seek to fill the vacancy as soon as possible.
