Drumaville near full control

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has vowed to bring new investment into the club after his consortium assumed full control.

The Drumaville group reached the 90 per cent threshold to trigger a compulsory buy-out of the remaining shares some time ago, and is now in the process of doing just that.

Quinn said: "Drumaville has taken the decision that any remaining shares will now be compulsorily purchased by the group, giving them full ownership of Sunderland Limited.

"This is in line with similar events at Aston Villa recently and the takeover at Chelsea some time ago.

"The group believes that it was vitally important that, in order to facilitate the maximum investment possible and to ensure stability for the long-term future of the club, full ownership was achieved.

"By taking full control of the club, Drumaville is in a position to bring in further investment more easily and to control the operation of the business more closely, driving it forward in areas both on and off the field."

Drumaville launched a successful takeover during the summer to buy out then chairman Bob Murray and installed Roy Keane as the club's new manager within weeks.  PA
