Republic of Ireland midfielder Andy Reid has left Tottenham for Premiership and London rivals Charlton.
The 24-year-old joins the club on a four-year-deal for a £3 million fee and becomes new manager Iain Dowie's eighth summer signing.
"He is a player of immense quality and potential and I believe that this is a very good acquisition for the club," said Dowie of a player who found first team opportunities at Tottenham increasingly difficult to come by.
"Andy is still a very young player who can go on to achieve great things. He has a great range of passing, a tremendous set-piece delivery and also possesses an eye for goal."
Dowie had already bolstered his squad with the acquisitions of Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink, Djimi Traore, Scott Carson, Amdy Faye, Cristian Bolanos, Simon Walton and Cory Gibbs.
Reid was left out of Steve Staunton's original squad for last night's humiliating 4-0 defeat to Holland at Lansdowne Road because of injury.
"It is a really good move for me," said Reid, who is nearing full fitness following a foot problem. "I need to be playing football week in, week out and that is the main reason I have come here, to play.
"Obviously there were a lot of players at Tottenham, and the opportunities were not there.
"I have been so impressed with everyone I have spoken to at Charlton, and after being injured, I cannot wait to get out on the training ground and get back into playing games again."
He added: "There was interest from some other clubs, but as soon as I came here and spoke to the manager, it said it all really. I knew in my mind this was the right place to come."
