Celtic winger Aiden McGeady and Manchester United defender John O'Shea will start Giovanni Trapattoni's second game in charge when the Republic of Ireland take on Colombia at Craven Cottage on Thursday.
McGeady will replace the injured Stephen Hunt on the left wing and O'Shea comes in for right full-back Stephen Kelly in the only two changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Serbia at Croke Park on Saturday.
Hunt left the squad last night after agitating a chronic hamstring injury but his absence has afforded Trapattoni the chance to see Scottish player of the year McGeady in action, after singing his praises at every opportunity since he took the job.
Earlier in the week the winger had looked doubtful to play after picking up an injury in Celtic's league winning game against Dundee United last week, but he has trained fully since joining up with the squad in Malahide yesterday.
Speaking after training at Malahide this evening, Trapattoni said: "Stephen Hunt had an injury from five weeks ago and during the match the other day, he felt it.
"I let him go home because it was impossible for him to play in the match. There was no point keeping him here if he couldn't play.
"I spoke to McGeady yesterday about whether he can play or not, and he showed today he is ready, as did John O'Shea."
Paul McShane remains at centre back with Richard Dunne, who has recovered from a heel injury. A lapse in concentration from McShane allowed Marko Pantelic to score the opener in Croke Park last weekend but Trapattoni is confident the youngster will learn from the mistake.
Captain Robbie Keane will again lead the line with Reading striker Kevin Doyle, while Saturday's goalscorer Andy Keogh is on the bench again.
Damien Delaney and Glenn Whelan will win their second caps at left-back and centre midfield respectively, with Damien Duff starting on the right wing.
McGeady was today quick to dismiss suggestions that he and number of other players were unhappy with the appointment of Liam Brady as Trapattoni's assistant.
It has been suggested that several players were unhappy with Brady's presence because of past comments in his role as a columnist and TV pundit.
But the winger, as Trapattoni did on Saturday night, brushed aside the controversy.
"It's just a job, isn't it? It was a job he had to do. He was paid, not to be controversial, but to speak his views on the game," he told reporters. "If he thought a player wasn't performing well, he would say it. That's just something that happens.
"We are all grown-ups, we can all learn to deal with it."
"I have not been in the squad for the last 10 days. I have not seen Liam yet, but I am sure it won't be that big a deal."
