Egypt international striker Mido completed a £6million move to Middlesbrough from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur on a four-year deal today.
Boro said the 24-year-old had been granted a work permit
and was available for Saturday's away trip to Fulham.
"He is someone I played against as a player and he always
impressed me," Boro manager Gareth Southgate told the club's
website
www.mfc.premiumtv.co.uk.
"He's got good technical ability and he's a goalscorer. When
you've got one of the best crossers of the ball in the league in
Stewart Downing, you want someone like Mido who can head the
ball."
Middlesbrough, who lost Australian striker Mark Viduka to north-east rivals Newcastle United in June, have lost their first two league games of the season.
Mido had been set to join Birmingham City in the close season
but that move fell through.
The African Young Player of the Year for 2002, Mido has
played previously for Zamalek, Ghent, Ajax, Celta Vigo, Olympique
Marseille and Roma in an itinerant career.
He scored five times in 23 appearances for Spurs last
season.
