Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane has been named as Major League Soccer's Most Valuable Player after captaining the Los Angeles Galaxy to the MLS final.

The 34-year-old from Tallaght has scored 19 goals and supplied a massive 14 assists in the club’s run through to a final meeting with the New England Revolution.

Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen and Seattle Sounders' Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins were behind Keane in the voting.

Keane has enjoyed considerable success since moving to Los Angeles, reaching the MLS Cup Final for a third time in four seasons.
