The visitors were outplayed in the opening 45 minutes and Derry’s side deservedly hit the front on the stroke of half-time when Tommy Stewart drove the ball home from the penalty spot.

But in the 56th minute John Lester, at fault for Derry’s penalty, atoned for his first half error when he netted a wonder strike.
