National League round-up: League leaders Drogheda United had their wings clipped at Tolka Park tonight as Shelbourne claimed all three points with a 1-0 win.

Shels, who leapfrog three clubs to move into second place, went in front through a Stuart Byrne header, the midfielder arriving late to get on the end of an Alan Moore free-kick after just 12 minutes.

Indeed, the home side could already have been ahead through Colin Hawkins and once they edged in front, Pat Fenlon's men went on to dominate the rest of the half.

Drogheda were marginally better after the break but were still unable to cope with Shelbourne's superior brand of football and Gary O'Neill made sure of the points with a thoroughly deserved strike 20 minutes from time.
