Setanta Cup:St Patrick's Athletic and Cork City reaffirmed their place as the top two sides in Group Two of the Setanta Cup after both recorded wins over their respective Irish League opponents in tonight's final round of games.
St Pat's cemented their place at the top of the table with a convincing 3-0 away win against Portadown at Shamrock Park. With 16 points they won Group Two by six points from Cork, who hosted Dungannon Swifts and ran out 2-1 winners at Turner's Cross.
Sean O'Connor got on the score sheet twice for St Pat's as Portadown's Setanta Cup misery continued. O'Connor's brace came after Eamonn Lynch fired home the opener after 52 minutes.
Colin O'Brien opened the scoring for Cork by heading home after just four minutes while Denis Behan headed a second just after the half hour mark.
Swifts keeper Davy Wells was also sent-off for handling outside the box.
Neither Dungannon nor Portadown managed a single win during the round-robin series of six group matches and finished with four points and one point respectively.
As group winners St Pat's earned themselves a home fixture against the runners up in Group One.
