Soccer - Bolton 2 Everton 0:On-loan striker Daniel Sturridge gave Bolton a shot in the arm with his third goal in three games to ensure the Trotters beat Everton 2-0 at the Reebok Stadium.
With Owen Coyle's men already 1-0 up, the England Under-21 international extended their lead in the 67th minute with a rasping drive after a flick-on by Lee Chung-yong.
Gary Cahill had opened the scoring in the 10th minute when his header was deflected in by Everton's John Heitinga. It was just the result the Trotters were looking for after losing five out of their previous seven league games.
But while Bolton were celebrating, these remain worrying times for Everton - after only two wins in the league on the road they're just three points clear of the relegation zone.
Sturridge said: "I'm just delighted to be playing regular football, I'm enjoying my football here and now I'm looking forward to the next game.
"The manager's instilled a lot of confidence in me, he's told me to go out and play my normal game, to shoot, to dribble and just show everybody what I'm about."
Trotters boss Coyle said: "We knew we would have to be at a very high intensity to stop them playing because of their quality, and I felt we did that.
"Having done that, we moved the ball very well ourselves. I thought it was a terrific advertisement for the Barclays Premier League and I'm delighted to get the three points."
Frustrated Everton manager David Moyes admitted: "That was the poorest performance I can remember for a long time. We conceded two bad goals, but our play in between that was not good enough. We never got started. We had a bit of the play for 20 minutes before half-time and one or two chances, but we were never really at the races."
