United make £10m Trezeguet bid - report

Manchester United have reportedly made a £10 million move to sign Juventus striker David Trezeguet.

Manchester United have reportedly made a £10 million move to sign Juventus striker David Trezeguet.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-term admirer of Trezeguet and has made a desperate attempt to land the Frenchman before Thursday's transfer deadline, according to various newspaper reports.

Trezeguet wants to leave the Turin giants after they were relegated to Serie B for their part in the Italian match-fixing scandal.

It is understood the player's father, who also acts as his agent, has already met with United officials to discuss a possible move.

The Red Devils are in the driving seat to land the striker, but may face competition from French champions Lyon who have money to spend after selling midfielder Mahamadou Diarra to Real Madrid for £16m.

Trezeguet scored 23 goals in 32 Serie A games last season but failed to maka an impression at the World Cup for France.
