ST COLMAN'S, Eermoy, made it through to their second successive all-Ireland colleges hurling final when they brushed aside the challenge of Ulster champions St Mary's, Belfast, in a disappointingly one-sided semi-final at Tullamore yesterday.

St Colman's were simply too strong for the Northerners. To their credit, St Mary's were far from over-awed and led for a short period when left corner forward Kieran McGee, pounced for an early goal after Neil Ronan opened the scoring for the Cork side.

St Mary's lead was short-lived, however, and once St Colman's drew level after 11 minutes, they stunned the Belfast side with two goals inside a minute - from Ronan and corner forward Eoin Fitzgerald.

With their half back line trio of Luke Mannix, David Relihan and Peter Murphy in superb form and Ronan equally impressive upfront, they led 2-7 to 1-2 at half-time before running up a near cricket score in the second half.
