A LETHAL full forward line, which scored an aggregate of 4-9 played a significant role in the surprisingly facile victory of St Patrick's Academy, Dungannon, over Colaiste Chriost Ri in the semifinal of the All Ireland Colleges senior football championship at Tullamore.

St Patrick's started well and led 1-3 to 0-2 at the end of the first quarter, their goalscorer being Kevin Coary. Their attack then dried up and a run of four points brought the Cork team back to level terms, 1-3 to 0-6 by half time.

The second half saw the winners attack sparkle, with all six forwards getting in on the scoring act. Full forward Richard Thornton enjoyed a particularly rewarding hour, scoring a hat trick of goals, but this was a triumph for team work rather than individual brilliance.
