Swansea thwarted

Swansea were yesterday told their citings against three Stade Francais players cannot be heard

Swansea were yesterday told their citings against three Stade Francais players cannot be heard. European Rugby Cup Limited have informed Swansea they did not supply sufficient data with their claims, which followed Saturday's bruising Heineken Cup clash.

But although the Welsh club failed to comply with tournament regulations in their citing procedure, the cases brought by Stade Francais against two Swansea players were properly lodged and will be heard later this week.

Swansea made an instant response on Monday after the French champions had themselves cited Welsh international forwards Garin Jenkins and Andy Moore.

Stade Francais trio Diego Dominguez, Fabrice Landreau and David Auradou were the players Swansea accused of foul play.

Italian international outhalf Dominguez was involved in the incident that led to Swansea's Wales flanker Colin Charvis being sent off for punching, and he subsequently received a two-match ban.

Swansea cited Dominguez for kicking Charvis, while hooker Landreau was pinpointed for allegedly stamping on Tyrone Maullin and then punching Moore. Auradou was said to have kicked Maullin.

Swansea won the game 18-16, preserving their 100 per cent record in Pool Two, with outhalf Arwell Thomas kicking all his side's points. But the game has been overshadowed by subsequent reactions off the pitch.

London Irish, meanwhile, have lodged an appeal against a decision taken by ERC Ltd last week to deduct two points from them for playing an ineligible player, Richard Bates, in their European Shield victory over Aurillac.

The appeal hearing will be held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh on Friday.
