A VASTLY improved Terenure College brushed past a gallant CBC Monkstown team at Donnybrook yesterday to continue their progress in the Leinster Schools Senior Cup. They were a transformed outfit from the side that struggled against St Paul's in the previous round.
Mention of Terenure's burnout factor was extinguished as they played at a far more controlled pace and methodically wore down Monkstown in what was an extremely efficient display.
After five minutes hookers David Blayney, who had an exceptional game, raced over for a try. Terenure had to wait a further 25 minutes for another breakthrough, but patience was again the virtue with centre Colin Moynagh collecting the ball from inside the 25 to score under the posts with out half John English converting for the second time.
Right wing Andrew Long ran in for Terenure's third score with English again adding the points and although Monkstown centre Ken Walsh, did much to restore his team's dignity with a penalty before the break, there was no doubting Terenure's superiority. In the second half, Long added a try, converted by English, who also kicked a penalty.
