Kieren Fallon has one hand on the jockeys' crown in Britain after rattling up a 24 to 1 treble at Haydock Park yesterday on the day his arch rival Frankie Dettori began a six-day suspension.

The irresistible Fallon moved 13 ahead in the title race with the victory on impressive newcomer Fleetwood after earlier successes on Risque Lady and Shawm.

By the end of the week the Clareman could easily have established a virtually unassailable lead. Only injury or lengthy suspensions are likely to prevent him from taking the title for the first time.

The Tote, the only firm to quote prices, now make Fallon a 1 to 12 chance. Dettori is 6 to 1.

Jockey Chelsea Zupan has ridden seven successive winners at Emerald Downs in Washington. Zupan, 22, won four races on Thursday and added three more on Friday. The run is the longest of its kind in the northwest and is believed to be a national record for a female rider. The record for consecutive wins in the United States is nine, held by two riders. Albert Adams accomplished the feat over three race days at Marlboro in 1930. Tony Black, riding at Atlantic City and Philadelphia Park, equalled the record on July 30th-31st, 1992.
