ULSTER MFC FINAL Tyrone 0-13 Monaghan 0-10A MORE composed Tyrone retained their Ulster minor title at the expense of a Monaghan team that never really established a foothold in the game.

With Kyle Coney orchestrating up front and Peter Harte holding the defence at centre back, Tyrone always looked more comfortable while Monaghan looked nervous and failed to capitalise on the chances that came their way.

Tyrone only trailed once and that after just 10 minutes when points by Mark Connolly and Kieran Hughes from a free cancelled out Kyle Coney's opener for the champions. Tyrone led at half-time by 0-6 to 0-4, with five of those points coming from frees.

In the second half Tyrone continued to dominate although Monaghan did enjoy periods of pressure but again failed to convert chances.

They had the margin down to the minimum after five minutes but Tyrone moved up a gear to hit four on the trot from Ronan Tierney, Paddy McNeice, free, Conor O'Neill and a brilliant effort from Coney from distance.

Twice Monaghan pulled back a brace of points but Tyrone retained control even though Coney's penalty was saved two minutes from the end of normal time.
