Women's Hockey:If results go their way, maybe Corinthian taking something from their game away to Railway Union, UCD could retain their Leinster Division One title tomorrow, the students meeting third-from-bottom North Kildare in their penultimate league fixture.

Railway’s defeat by Loreto last weekend, combined with UCD’s draw against Hermes, saw them fall a point behind the defending champions.

They now need a favour from either Kildare or bottom-of-the-table Trinity, UCD’s final league opponents, while taking maximum points from Corinthian and Old Alexandra, against whom they finish up next month.

Loreto, Hermes and Alexandra are all tied on 33 points, Loreto with a game in hand, four behind UCD.

While the trio might not have completely relinquished their title hopes, still hoping for a stumble from the top two, their chief target for now is a top four finish and automatic Irish Hockey League qualification.

Key game

The key game at the other end of the table is between Trinity and Pembroke Wanderers, Trinity needing a win if they are to avoid finishing bottom.

And on Sunday Ashton and Lisnagarvey host Pembroke Wanderers and Hermes, respectively, the winners going through to the Irish Junior Cup final.
