A year after the bitter disappointment of disintegrating against Tyrone, Fermanagh are back with another championship win under their belt. Having defeated Monaghan for the second year, Pat King's team have a more favourable draw than 12 months ago. Travelling to Ballybofey is a disadvantage, but Donegal wouldn't trigger the same traditional inhibitions as Tyrone do. The win over Monaghan set out Fermanagh's stall. They have lively and productive forwards, a good centrefield, but are more questionable in defence. Their concentration could also do with improvement. Having established an eight-point lead early on the preliminary round, they dawdled sufficiently to allow young and inexperienced opponents back into the match. Notwithstanding the depressed expectations in Donegal, the team won't let Fermanagh away with similar loss of focus. Donegal's strengths mirror the visitors'. A very strong full-forward line of Brian Roper, Tony Boyle - playing his 100th match for the county - and Brendan Devenney has the potential to cause a lot of trouble. If Jimmy McGuinness is in form, Donegal's most dangerous line can hope for a reasonable supply. But Fermanagh have the talent, the bitter experience of last year, and the momentum from a successful outing. It adds up to a good shot at a first semi-final in eight years.
