Wales flew into Johannesburg yesterday with full back David Weatherley fearing his stay will only be brief. Weatherley injured his right knee during Saturday's 49-11 win over Zimbabwe and was expecting to be told by doctors that ligament damage has ruled him out of the South African leg of the tour.

Before heading for a hospital scan, the Swansea star said: "I am not expecting any good news.

"I had a problem with my left knee last season and I know when things are serious. I expect to be told I have to go home, which will be a massive disappointment.

"To work hard and get on a tour but then find your first cap ends with an injury like this is just devastating."

The rest of the Welsh squad reported a clean bill of health when they arrived in readiness for their match against the Emerging Springboks on Friday.
