Wexford Youths ... 0 Limerick 37 ... 1:Davy Wall fired Limerick 37 into the third-round draw as his 63rd-minute goal denied Wexford Youths in this FAI Cup second-round replay at the Wexford Youths Complex last night.
Wexford Youths warmed home supporters with a dominant opening 45 minutes but they failed to break the deadlock despite creating a number of chances. It was Limerick who stamped their authority in the second half and Joey Maloney should have done better than miskicking a 62nd-minute Peter McCarthy cross from in front of goal. However, one minute later they took the lead when Kevin Waters floated in a corner which was brilliantly headed downwards into the corner of the net by Wall. The home side came close to equalising on 70 minutes, but Stuart Lawlor saw his header from a Conor Sinnott corner headed off the line by Anthony Hayes.
