US TOURA YEAR after missing out on a proper victory celebration, Boo Weekley gleefully shared his second consecutive title at the Heritage Classic with the fans in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on Sunday.

The affable American, who ended up winning by three strokes, gave the gallery several thumbs-ups as he was cheered "Booooo, Boooo" while walking along the 18th fairway at the picturesque Harbour Town Golf Links.

After narrowly missing a five-footer to save par at the last, he bowed to the spectators packed around the green before thrusting both arms skywards in a victory salute.

Last year he denied himself a boisterous reaction on the 72nd green by clinching the title for the first time with spectacular chip-ins to save par on the final two holes.

"I chipped it in back-to-back last year and I didn't get to stand there and turn to the crowd and do the fist pump," said Weekley.

"I look back and that was the only way that I thought that you really won is when you stand there and pull the ball out of the hole and turn around to the crowd and say: 'Hey, I am the champ'. "(Today) I wanted to do the moonwalk, the belly-roll."

Asked whether it bothered him that his nickname of Boo evoked negative-sounding cheers from the crowds, he replied: "No, they just holler my name. It doesn't matter, Davis Love or whatever walking up there, they're going to holler your name."

Christened Thomas Brent but nicknamed after cartoon hero Yogi Bear's sidekick "Boo Boo" Bear, Weekley was delighted to secure his second PGA Tour victory without playing at his best.

"I proved to myself that you ain't always got to have your "A" game to win," the 34-year-old Florida resident said. "But it helps. It makes you feel a helluva lot better, I can tell you that.

"I had the rights all day," he added, referring to his errant shots off the tee. I had them all week with the driver and a little bit with the iron."
