The latest homeless figures show that almost 10,000 people are accessing State-funded emergency accommodation. While this number represents a slight drop on the last figures released, it will be cold comfort for those still without a roof over their heads. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds who get into to university through special access routes can outperform regular students when they have on-campus foundation courses, new research shows. Carl O'Brien reports.
