Swedish police said on Tuesday that five people were shot in an attack at a school in the city of Örebro some 200km west of Stockholm.
The incident prompted a massive response by rescue services.
“Five persons are confirmed shot,” police said in a statement. “This is currently seen as attempted murder, arson and aggravated weapons offence.”
Local authorities said four people have been admitted to hospitals in the area after the attack.

Swedish media are reporting that the attack took place at Risbergska School, an education campus serving a wide range of students.
The school’s website says it mostly deals with adult education and works with people over the age of 20, offering various levels of training and language courses for immigrants to Sweden.
Ambulances, rescue services and police are on-site, a spokesperson for local rescue services said.
Swedish justice minister Gunnar Strömmer said the situation was “very serious”, and the response to the incident was still under way.
The Swedish government remains in close contact with the authorities, he said.
According to a report, a manager of a pizza restaurant near the campus said 30 to 50 people fled to shelter there – shocked, but unharmed.
