Share your story: Do you have a fear of dogs?

What goes through your mind when you hear barking as you walk down the street?

Cynophobia is the fear of dogs, and, like many phobias, it is commonly caused by a negative experience, particularly during childhood.

Having a fear of canines can be exhausting and debilitating – especially in a country such as Ireland. Gabrielle Cummins details her experience with dogs here, and we would also like to hear your story. Has a fear of dogs affected you, or a member of your family?

Perhaps you could answer questions such as:
How have you handled a fear of dogs?
When did it begin?
How has it affected your life?
Were dog owners understanding?
And what rules or laws would you like to see introduced?

The Irish Times will publish some of the submissions. If you are reading this in the app, click here.
