Lovelace: Designer with an innovative approach to Carrickmacross lace

Stylefile: Former Riverdancer is one of the stars of ARC fashion show at RDS

Caterina Coyne, who was born in London but raised in Connemara, was a lead dancer in Riverdance and toured the world with the troupe for 10 years before settling on a career in fashion design. A graduate of the Grafton Academy, she is becoming known for an innovative approach to Carrickmacross lace in feminine and delicate dresses that draw from her experience as a performer.

One of the stars in the forthcoming ARC Fashion Show at the RDS on March 8th, she is one the 28 designers taking part in the event, produced by Eddie Shanahan and billed as one of the biggest in the country . Also bound to make an impact are London-based designer Derek Lawlor and hatmaker Margaret O'Connor, who won a major award for their collaboration in Shanghai last year. Others include textile designer Aoife Mullane, with one-off pieces in luxurious fabrics, the funky Dolly Delinquent, David O'Malley, Amie Egan and Sarah Murphy, new talents to watch as well as established names. Tickets are €55 and can be had by calling 01 830 7333 or www.arccancersupport.ie/events. All proceeds go to ARC Cancer Support Centres.
