Woman to appear in court after four pedestrians hit by car in Limerick

A woman in her 20s is to appear in court in Limerick on Monday in relation to an alleged hit-and-run incident in the early hours of Sunday at Corn Market Row in the city.

She had been arrested on Sunday for allegedly driving into four people, seriously injuring one of them. She is expected to appear before a sitting of Limerick District Court at 10.30am.

At about 1am, a man and two women were hit by a car which was driven from the scene. The 33-year-old male pedestrian received serious injuries and remains in critical condition in hospital. Two women in their late 30s are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Another woman, aged 19, also later presented herself at University Hospital Limerick with injuries described as “non-life threatening”.

Gardaí found the suspect car abandoned a short distance away and seized it for technical examination

Several hours later, gardaí arrested a woman, aged in her 20s, who they believe was in the vehicle at the time of the collision. She is being held in Henry Street Garda Station where she can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

Gardaí say investigations are continuing and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
