Assistant Business Editor

Working as part of a busy business desk team, the Assistant Business Editor will help to service the demands of our digital and print operations.

This role involves planning and initiating business and finance coverage, identifying priorities and editing and managing day-to-day coverage.

The successful candidate will be expected to help reporters in generating exclusive and diary news stories for digital and print, under pressure of tight deadlines. They will need to monitor business news developments throughout the day and commission or source stories and features from reporters, contributors or syndicated services, as appropriate. They will be expected to help ensure the best treatment and promotion of those stories on all platforms.

Applications are sought from experienced journalists with a strong news sense, good organisational skills and the ability to edit and deliver clear and accurate news stories for publication.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential in this role, as is the ability to work as part of a team.
