We acquired the publishing and media interests of the Examiner Group in 2018. The objective of the newly combined entities is to create a dynamic and vibrant media business which can sustain itself for the longer term and where the respective media assets – national, regional and radio – will contribute significantly to the Irish media market. This brings together two organisations with a quality focus and strong ethos.
We wish to appoint a Head of Product Innovation and Technology to support our continuing growth and development.
Reporting to the Managing Director of The Irish Times Group, this position will support the strategic and operational demands of the organisation. The appointee will take a lead role in innovation and product development. S/he will work closely with senior editors and managers in building leading edge solutions for readers and customers to position the group as a driver of new and innovative solutions.
The role will lead the Technology support and development teams in implementing and managing changing products, customer offerings, systems and processes. A key objective in the role is to support audience and revenue growth.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity to engage with stakeholders and have a passion for and understanding of the media environment. S/he will foster innovation and work with the business to prioritise technology initiatives.
The person appointed will have a strong commercial and digital background with proven management experience in a multi-stakeholder environment. Recent experience in disruptive technologies, bringing to market products and services to meet the needs of the customer will be a distinct advantage. A strategic focus and a willingness to operate in an environment with changing demands and priorities are critical to the role.
Candidates will have direct experience managing a technology function and/or multiple teams and will demonstrate a good understanding of trends in digital technologies. S/he will have experience delivering development projects in an agile manner aligned with business needs.
