We invite applications for the post of Software Development Team Lead. The successful candidate will work as a senior developer and team lead for our Development team.

Reporting to the Head of Product Innovation and Development, the Software Development Lead will work as part of a cross-functional agile development team to implement product enhancements and improvements for user facing applications and systems for The Irish Times.

The person appointed will lead the software development team in the development and execution of new site features and applications and guide the definition, adoption and review of high development standards for the Irish Times. S/he will collaborate with the UX and Design Lead, the wider Technology department and internal stakeholders.

Candidates will have an honours degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field and a commercial object-oriented programming experience. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Java and/or PHP, Web Services, Javascript, Angular or other modern JS frameworks. A working knowledge of automated testing, deployment and continuous integration is also required.

The person appointed will demonstrate strong communication skills and have the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships at all levels. The ability to tailor messages to audiences of varying technical knowledge and ability is important in this role.
