A unique Advanced Diploma at King’s Inns provides participants with comprehensive and practical knowledge of this important field of law

King’s Inns is built on networking and engagement, with students invited to participate in various social events, fireside chats and talks

Presented by leading experts in this area, the Advanced Diploma in Corporate, White–Collar and Regulatory Crime course takes place over 12 weeks from late September 2022 to April 2023 in 1.5-hour sessions. Most classes are online, allowing professionals from all corners of Ireland and beyond to participate. A small number of in-person sessions will take place at King’s Inns.

Over recent years, discussion on crime has gradually focused more on corporate, white–collar and regulatory crime. This shift is primarily due to the fallout from the international financial crisis and the profound impact this has had on the economy. Course participants on this Advanced Diploma will gain confidence in dealing with the main issues in practice in an emerging area of law of increasing significance for many sectors and interests within the State. In addition, they will acquire a practical in-depth knowledge of the issues facing regulators, prosecutors, investigators, companies, practitioners and law reformers in this area.

“Increasingly, the State recognises that corporate, white-collar and regulatory crime can threaten the security of the State in ways that can be as serious as ordinary crime. Accordingly, the landscape of regulatory enforcement has changed significantly. This course, delivered by experienced researchers, regulators, and practitioners, sheds light on that landscape, critically analysing the law on the policing, investigation, and punishment of corporate, white-collar and regulatory crime,” says course designers and coordinators Dr Joe McGrath and Edward Doocey BL.

McGrath is an assistant professor at UCD School of Law. He teaches banking law, corporate governance, white-collar crime, comparative corporate governance and financial regulation. Doocey is a barrister based at The Bar of Ireland, specialising in criminal law, including white collar crime.
