When the Green Awards 2023 winners are announced, we’ll find out how Irish businesses are managing to keep sustainability front and centre when assailed on all sides by challenging circumstances. From war in the Ukraine, to rising energy costs, to supply chain crunches, there are so many factors that one fears will push sustainability down the corporate agenda.
However if the level of award submissions are any indicator, then, according to Darragh Feiritéar, head of judging, there is little fear that this is the case.
According to Feiritéar, “Entries are ahead both by the number of companies entering and the total number of projects entered. It shows that Irish businesses are investing time and resources to get their green credentials out there and drive engagement with clients, colleagues and stakeholders across the sustainability agenda.”
Right now all the entries are in and the submission are going through a shortlisting process.

And when Ireland green business community gathers on February 21st, 2023 for the awards, it estimated that more than 500 of Irelands leading organisations will convene at the Green Awards 2023 gala ceremony, to reflect on their work, share insights and celebrate excellence.
Bord na Móna is, once again, leading the awards in their main sponsors role with a view to creating a greater focus on driving the broader green agenda, in keeping with the organisations own changing focus.
Speaking of the ongoing partnership to the event Tom Donnellan, chief executive, Bord na Móna said, “Since Bord na Móna put sustainability and climate action at the heart of its strategy, the company has changed beyond recognition. Today it is a growing, successful business that is leading on developing renewable energy and other climate solutions for the people of Ireland. The company that was associated with the hearth is now providing a clean, renewable and secure source of energy for the people of Ireland. Today we are delivering these vastly greater quantities of home-grown energy in a way that protects the environment for future generations. We just don’t want to celebrate our own success however, we want to celebrate everyone who makes an outstanding contribution to the sustainable economy. This is why we are delighted to return as the title sponsor for the Green Awards in 2023.”
