Held at The Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway, more than 650 people came together on January 28th to celebrate the best of the hotel and hospitality industry at a sold out event hosted by MC Anton Savage. Among many well deserved winners, Theresa Allen took home Gold for the Lifetime Achievement award. Other winners of the night included The Merrion Hotel Dublin, awarded Gold for Ireland’s Afternoon Tea Hotel, The Kingsley Hotel for Ireland’s Outstanding Customer Service Award and Hayfield Manor, Ireland’s Overall Supreme Winner of the night!
On the night, Trish Murphy, Sponsorship Director of the Virgin Media Business Gold Medal Hotel Awards, thanked the sponsors, without which the event would not be possible. This year’s sponsors include O’Driscoll’s Irish Whiskey, Sullivan’s Brewing Company, The Firm, SHR Group, Net Affinity, Excel Recruitment, Classic Drinks, Soundtolight, BWG Food Service, Bookassist, Action Recruitment and of course the headline sponsor, Virgin Media Business.
These awards recognise Ireland’s finest industry leaders in hospitality and tourism. Hotels from across the island gather to celebrate each other in all different aspects of the industry, from top Chef of the Year to Ireland’s Overall Favourite Place to Stay. It is a night to appreciate, where we uphold the outstanding hotels and hospitality services across Ireland.
Jill Thornton, Senior Events Manager with the Virgin Media Business Gold Medal Hotel Awards, congratulated the finalists in the room stating that their “passion, creativity and heart within this industry is inspiring and makes the Irish hospitality sector unique and cherished around the world.”
John Williams of Virgin Media, the proud title sponsor of the event, expressed their excitement of attending: “We are very proud to be title sponsor of the award. I think it’s really important for us to recognise excellence ... and show how much we appreciate everyone within the hospitality sector.”
Ricky O’Brien of BWG Food Service expressed his excitement of attending. “A brilliant evening, for what was a great event for the hotel industry – the Oscars for hospitality.”
Dan Smithwick of Sullivan’s Brewing Company gave praise to the Gold Medal Awards. “We are thrilled to sponsor the awards with such an electric atmosphere, with nothing left to chance.”
