About

Musgrave is a fast-moving business, driven by a strong ethical approach and family values. Musgrave owns Ireland’s leading food retail, wholesale and foodservice brands and are creating fast-growing new brands.  Feeding 1 in 3 people on the island of Ireland, its brands include SuperValu, Centra, Daybreak, Frank and Honest, Donnybrook Fair and Musgrave MarketPlace, which is Ireland’s leading wholesale supplier to retail, foodservice and SMEs.

Working with a network of entrepreneurial food partners and budding start-ups, they never stand still, and neither do their people.  Musgrave believes in investing in its people and has been developing graduate talent for more than 25 years.  The Musgrave Graduate Programme has a proven track record in providing a strong pipeline of talent, many of whom develop into future leaders within their business. Former graduates hold roles ranging from director to marketing manager to head of musgrave business services.

Programme

The programme is an experiential graduate development programme that nurtures the values, mind-set and new skills required to respond to changing consumer trends in convenience, online shopping, digital channels and foodie experiences. It is designed to develop and meet the needs of talent requirements in areas such as Buying/Trading, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Innovation, IT, Omnichannel and Retail/Wholesale Operations.  Opportunities change each year depending on requirements and Musgrave is always looking to bring new knowledge and skillsets to help further progress the business.

The graduates work with experienced managers in their fields and have real responsibility from the start. They are supported by a customised development programme run in conjunction with the Irish Management Institute.  Graduates rotate within the function while on the programme, for example, buying graduates will work in both a retail buying division and a wholesale/foodservices division over the two years to give them full exposure of key experiences to develop their commercial ability.

Graduates get:

  • a structured programme with clear roles and responsibilities as they transition from college to work;
  • formal development provided through a bespoke development programme run in conjunction with the Irish Management Institute  which is aligned to the strategic business direction and linked to their performance review;
  • functional specific training and development is provided as required;
  • coaching is provided on an informal and formal basis;
  • chief executive officer and senior manager support in developing early talent;
  • established career paths to facilitate progress while at the same time providing scope to move within the function;
  • stretch development opportunities aligned with talent strategy and designed to challenge high potential graduates;
  • the opportunity to shape the future of retail and wholesale.

The award-winning Graduate Programme reflects Musgrave as a destination place to work, where talented people can grow and thrive.
