Violetta is a role she recently - very successfully - performed in London with the English National Opera. Dublin born soprano, Boyle is the perfect fit for the revered role. Her talents not only add credibility to the performance, but she is sure to touch audience's hearts.
Since her days as an Opera Theatre Company Young Artist and a member of the prestigious Young Singers Project at the 2010 Salzburg Festival, Boyle has appeared in countless top-class productions including the Philharmonia Orchestra under John Wilson as Hanna Glawari (The Merry Widow), the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma as Cunegonde (Candide) under Wayne Marshall, as Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) under Gabriele Ferro, and in Paul Curran’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream conducted by James Conlon.
This production of La Traviata features spectacular settings by the renowned Italian designer Guiliano Spinelli, who has previously worked on productions such as Le Nozze di Figaro, National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing and La Rondine, Festival Pucciniano, Torre del Lago Teatro all'Aperto. Once he had seen the stunning setting, producer Simon Walton of Ballet and Opera Ireland knew he had to bring the production of La Traviata from the theatre in Lucca Italy to Dublin for Irish audiences to enjoy.

Speaking about La Traviata Simon Walton said: “Over the years Ballet and Opera Ireland have prided themselves on bringing some of the world’s best productions to Ireland. The buzz around La Traviata at Festival Pucciniano was just incredible - the festival was founded in 1930 and is one of the most prestigious events in its field which attracts tens of thousands of people from all over the globe and sees some of the world’s top productions being performed. We’re delighted to be bringing it to Ireland in December 2021 with the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre being the perfect setting for the production.”
Long established, Ballet and Opera Ireland produced their first ballet in Ireland over 20 years ago, ‘The Nutcracker' by The Russian State Ballet at what was then known as The Point Theatre. It was incredibly well received and 'Christmas Ballet at The Point' became an essential part of the festive activities over the next ten years or so, featuring some of the world’s top ballet companies. In March 2010 they produced the first of many successful Ballets and Operas at The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre including the opening run of the theatre, in the presence of Mary McAleese the then President of Ireland. Again this saw the company working with The Russian State Ballet, guest-starring Galina Stepanenko, Prima Ballerina of The Bolshoi Ballet who partnered Alexander Volchkov, The Male Principal of The Bolshoi.
Ballet and Opera Ireland is the artistic division of International Leisure and Arts, with the company staging over seventy-five percent of all the international Ballet productions that have visited Ireland over the last twenty five years. Relatively speaking they have only recently embraced opera, a move which has seen them bring prestigious productions such as TOSCA from The Mikhailovsky Opera of St Petersburg starring Irish Soprano Celine Byrne accompanied by The RTE National Symphony Orchestra to Ireland - a show that was greeted with much acclaim and standing ovations from the audiences and attended by the Irish President Michael D. Higgins and his charming wife Sabena. Some of their most recent ballet productions include the International Premier of Tchaikovsky Perm State Ballet’s new Swan Lake in November 2018, which was a sell-out success. With La Traviata they continue their aim of bringing ballet and opera of the highest standards with the most exciting and beautiful productions to Ireland.
