TRENDING: Established 50 years abo by the Irish State in response to an influential design audit led by Kaj Franck, Kilkenny Design Workshops, oversaw the birth of iconic products such as Holger Strom’s IQ light.Vernacular, an exhibition showing the best of Irish design talent, which opens today at the London Design Festival, pays tribute to this heritage. On show will be Derek Wilson Ceramics, Woodenleg, lighting by Donna Bates Design and Andrew Clancy, linen by 31 Chapel Lane, stone carvings by Aileen Anne Brannigan and baskets by Alison Fitzgerald. The show will include Gray Chair 5.12 by Dublin-based duo Designgoat, in tribute to designer Eileen Gray and originally commissioned by the National Craft Gallery of Ireland.
