The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is offering up to €3 million in seed funding to companies developing environmentally beneficial technologies and processes as part of its implementation of the Commission's Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP).

The agency has issued a call for proposals to be submitted by September 14th, that fit under the following areas:

Cleaner Greener Production Programme: open to companies, institutions and public bodies seeking to prevent and minimise their environmental impact.

Applications are open from all sectors and are particularly encouraged from the transport and retail/commercial sectors.

Advanced Technologies for Environmental Protection: the EPA has identified a number of environmental issues which require innovative research and development solutions. For this first call for projects, the EPA is focusing on water quality, though proposals are welcome in other areas defined by the EPA; subsequent calls will focus on these other areas.

Analytical Monitoring and Forecasting: the EPA notes research opportunities for the development of monitoring and information systems for ecosystems.

Studies and Support to Aid National Uptake of Environmental Technologies: a number of desk-based research studies are required to provide information and guidance for the development and usage of environmental technologies.
