Amdahl DMR Ireland plans to recruit 25 people for a new European shared services centre in Swords, Co Dublin. The centre will be responsible for the financial administration of Amdahl and DMR offices in Europe. The company, which currently employs more than 270 people, announced plans recently to centralise its European IT operations in the Republic - 20 people are currently employed managing these functions. The centre will consolidate financial support functions which will be phased in over nine months. Oracle Financials has been chosen as the core operator of the centre.
According to Mr Martin Delaney, general manager of Amdahl DMR Ireland, the introduction of the euro and the growing globalisation of business has meant multinational companies now want to establish shared services centres to manage their back office functions in order to increase efficiency and competitiveness.
