Amphion Semiconductor, a Belfast-based provider of virtual components for broadband and multimedia communications, has received $10 million (€10.5 million) from a syndicate led by Apax Partners.
Amphion, which was formerly known as Integrated Silicon Systems, delivers video/image compression, speech/voice coding and channel coding solutions for consumer and communications applications. The firm will use the investment to expand its worldwide network of sales, marketing and support offices and build on its design engineering capabilities.
