AN Post has appointed Mr Alan Goddard as its new director of letter post. He was previously operation programmes director with Royal Mail in Britain. The post is a new position, following a recommendation from consultants Price Waterhouse that the company strengthen its top management. A new director of finance is expected to be appointed shortly.

Mr Goddard (51) has been responsible for implementing significant operational changes in the Royal Mail. He will take up his position in early June and will have responsibility for all aspects of An Post's letter business.
