Ansbacher (Cayman) Ltd's application to be allowed disclose the identities of its Irish clients continued in the Cayman Island's capital of Georgetown yesterday in what was expected to be the last day of the five-day hearing.
Ansbacher is seeking the permission of the court to breach Cayman banking secrecy laws and reveal the identities of the depositors to the Irish High Court inspectors investigating the bank. Three clients, including two companies connected to Mr Charles Haughey, the former taoiseach, are objecting to the application. Mr Chief Justice Anthony Smellie, who is hearing the case, is not expected to make his ruling for several days at least.
