Bank of Ireland appoints commercial finance director

Bank of Ireland has announced the appointment of Ms Ann Horan as managing director of the bank's commercial finance division.

Bank of Ireland has announced the appointment of Ms Ann Horan as managing director of the bank's commercial finance division.

Ms Horan joined Bank of Ireland Group in 1989 from the Central Bank where she was a senior bank examiner. She was appointed head of group risk and compliance in 1994.

Ms Horan has an MA in Financial Control from Dublin City University Business School.

Ms Margaret Sweeney is the first woman to join Aer Rianta's senior management team with her appointment as company secretary. She will be responsible for legal, property, insurance and IT.

Meanwhile, Aer Rianta has announced that the manager of Cork Airport, Mr Barry Roche, is to retire with effect from March 31st. Mr Roche joined Aer Rianta in 1961 and was appointed general manager in 1984.

The independent television station, TV3, has appointed Mr Rick Hetherington as managing director. Mr Hetherington is a senior executive of TV3's main shareholder, Canadian company, CanWest Global. (See also page 5)

Global Investment Systems (Ireland), the IFSC-based provider of specialised software to the investment funds industry, has appointed Mr William Ryan to its client services division.

Mr Ryan joins from Chase Manhattan Bank and among his responsibilities will be supporting the company's established MFACT, fund accounting system, and MSHARE, the transfer agency system.

The company's IFSC operation is responsible for activities in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India.

Mr David Went has been appointed chairman of Irish Life Investment Managers (ILIM), the fund management subsidiary of Irish Life. Mr Went is group managing director designate of Irish Life where he will succeed Mr David Kingston at the end of March.

The outgoing chairman of ILIM, Mr Monty Hilkowitz, will remain a non-executive director of Irish Life.

The telecommunications service provider, Global One Ireland, has made four new appointments.

Mr Garvan Quish becomes new business development manager with special focus on the call centre market. He previously held the position of corporate account manager with EUnet Ireland and ESAT Telecom.

The new business development manager for indirect sales channels is Mr Pat Flood. He has held senior sales positions in the software industry, most recently with Compuplan Human Resource Management Systems and the Jones Group.

The new business development manager with special focus on the finance sector is Mr John Acton. He has four years corporate sales and account management experience in the IT industry.

Ms Ciara Shaffrey has become marketing manager after spending four years in the company's Paris and Bonn offices as a marketing communications manager.

Global One is a joint venture between three of the world's largest telecommunications companies: Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Sprint.

Barrister, Ms Mary Faherty, has been reappointed to the position of chairwoman of the Employment Appeals Tribunal for an extended period of five years.
