More than 400 new jobs are to be created over the next six years at the Belfast company Services and Systems Solutions, the Northern Ireland Economy Minister, Mr Adam Ingram, said yesterday.
The company, a subsidiary of Viridian, said 100 of the posts would be in high-technology areas, with most of the rest in a call centre.
Services and Systems Solutions, formed last year and also known as Sx3, is involved in the information technology, call centre activities and training services that were previously managed within Northern Ireland Electricity.
It sees the outsourcing business continuing to grow at a rapid pace, and plans to seek new contracts in the Republic and Britain.
Mr Ingram said the announcement, which involves a £2.8 million sterling grant from the North's Industrial Development Board, the equivalent of IDA Ireland, demonstrated the determination of the British government to compete for investment in Northern Ireland.
"Today's announcement is good news for all," he added. "For the company, it represents a major step forward towards its goal of becoming the leading provider of business processing outsourcing in Ireland while, for Northern Ireland, it is a real and tangible expression of confidence in the future."
