The Irish Exporters Association has expressed concern at the impact of a blockade by Spanish truck drivers on Irish exports, as up to 12 Irish truck drivers are trapped by the protest. Some have been stoned and had tyres punctured, according to reports.
The association says the blockage is now spreading, following the decision of the 3,000 strong Spanish Transport Federation to support the blockage.
The Spanish truck drivers are seeking a shorter working week, early retirement and other concessions from the employers.
Among the products carried to Spain by Irish drivers are fresh fish and computers. They return with fruit and vegetables.
