Although the name may mislead, SMS Text News is about much more than just mobile messaging and is a good catch-all of what's happening with mobile and wireless technology.
Running since January 2006, the blog now claims to have a readership of 180,000. Given the number of people in the telco business that name-check it, that's unlikely to be an exaggeration.
Ewan MacLeod, the entrepreneur behind the blog, is based in Britain, but he and his team of bloggers firmly have an international view.
Despite covering the event remotely, MacLeod also did an excellent job of tracking the latest news from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week. Its preview was spot-on and an excellent guide to what was worth watching for.
Rather than just follow the crowd "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" over the latest devices from the big names, SMS Text News highlighted the Readius combination e-book reader and phone from Polymer Vision as its "standout device" of the show.
Like a lot of the best bloggers MacLeod can seem arrogant and opinionated - but if not a blog is soulless and simply another news outlet. He has created a manifesto where he lists the major issues about which he feels strongly - including that Carphone Warehouse should "change its totally out-of- date name". For MacLeod it's the equivalent of "Ford being called Horse Drawn Cart & Carriage Inc".
Whether you work in the mobile industry or are simply an enthusiastic user of the technology SMS Text News won't disappoint.
