The European Commission will block Bombardier's $725 million acquisition of DaimlerChrysler's rail systems unit Adtranz because of antitrust concerns, German weekly magazine Focus reported. Focus said concessions offered by Bombardier at the end of November had not been enough to clear the deal, which would propel the Canadian aircraft and train maker to the top of the global passenger rail equipment industry. Focus said Bombardier had offered to cut train and railcar capacity to address the Commission's antitrust concerns.
