The British carrier British Midland has formed a partnership with Lux Air in an attempt to attract Irish passengers travelling to various North American destinations.

Lux Air, the national carrier of Luxembourg, will fly Irish passengers to Manchester where they will be able to travel on to various US and Canadian destinations with British Midland.

British Midland said it believed Irish travellers would be interested in routes such as Washington, Chicago, Toronto and also Barbados. The airline said it was offering a fare of €476, including taxes, to fly from Dublin to Washington via Manchester.

Mr Adrian Parkes, commercial director of British Midland, said the deal would open up a range of new long haul destinations for Irish travellers. He said trips to Las Vegas and St Lucia would soon be available from Dublin.
